sneak peak: paper n stitch

Today I was approved to add stuff to my Paper n Stitch store for the upcoming exhibition. I'm posting a few pictures below so that you can preview what it looks like. Of course, when you view it on the actual pns site, you won't be able to see the admin bar and the red X next to each item. MBG will be live on pns starting Monday - be sure to check it out. I'm super excited!

on hold

Early this afternoon, I added what will probably be the last set of wash cloths (until I get caught up with orders) to the store. I was hoping to get all of the cotton yarn knitted up before becoming swamped for the fall/winter, but I can't complain about the sudden influx of orders. This set is a collection of natural earth tones - check it out in the pictures below.

treasury feature

So happy to see that Diana at Enchanting Soap Favors has included my wash cloths in her "Going For Green.." treasury today. I'm always honored to be included in collections curated by others. Check out the beautiful shades of green:

mbg for west coast kix

It's official! I have been talking to Ben at West Coast Kix in Carytown about adding some of my knits to his inventory for the last couple of weeks. I am so excited to be able to announce that the order has been placed and the yarn has been purchased, all except for a few skeins of wool for the hats. After careful consideration, we determined that my circle scarves, fingerless mittens, and aviator caps would go well with the aesthetic of West Coast Kix. I'm creating a custom line for Ben, which consists of bright, bold colors that are not available in my store, and will feature a re-design of my usual tag. These colors are going to look great with the other items currently offered at West Coast Kix, and I am looking forward to delivering the finished items next month. For now, it's time to knit my fingers to the bone!

men's scarf ... plan of action

I'm desperate to get some men's items in my store before being featured on Paper n Stitch (we'll see if it happens - just got a huge order and a bunch of small ones to keep me super busy), but I'm not in a hurry to go out and buy yarn. So, I was scrounging through my stash for something masculine and in a heavy weight, and came up with ... nothing. Okay, so I came up with a plan. I'm going to take these two skeins of gorgeous wool in a dark beige marle, double them up for a chunkier yarn, and knit them into some kind of amazing man scarf. I'll post pictures as soon as it's done! Wish me luck ...

omg, want!

Just found this vintage knitting machine for sale - only $600 ... I want it so bad! I've been thinking for a long time about getting either a knitting board or machine, and with the way business is picking up, it will definitely be time to take the plunge soon. A board would be cheaper, but a machine would be AH-mazing! I doubt I'll get one as sweet as this ($600 is a little excessive at the moment), but I'm holding out hope for something big under the tree this Christmas. We shall see. For now, these pictures will have to suffice...

west coast kix

Ben at West Coast Kix asked me to do a shoot of his store for an upcoming article in Richmond Magazine. I was excited and honored to be asked, of course, and I happily packed up my gear and headed over to Carytown this morning.

West Coast Kix is a beautiful sneaker and tee boutique, with a happy, sunshine feel to all of the fun products it has to offer. Ben officially opened his doors today, and I think he will be very successful. Check out some highlights from the shoot below.

"guacamole"

New! Another set made their way into the store today, and I'm calling this color combination "Guacamole." Other than being away from my needles for a few days, production is keeping up a steady pace... Watch for more new listings soon!

jewelry ... revised

I shot new, revised images for the jewelry in my store yesterday afternoon. The listings should be updated by the end of the day!

inspiration ... masculine scarves

During my attempts to stock up on inventory for the store for the impending Paper n Stitch exhibition, I have been thinking a lot about making some men's items. I already have plans for making fingerless mittens in larger sizes and photographing them on guys, but I've also been seeking inspiration for men's scarves on the web. Check out the styles below ...

Found on Preptacular.

Found on NOTCOUTURE.

Similar to what I already make for women - I think this adorable picture is what made me feel the need to post it. Found on DaWanda.

sneak peak: cotton

While I was home for a brief visit this week, my mom kindly purchased enough cotton yarn to keep me busy for a while. I love, love, love it when someone else invests in my hobby for a change! I will be transforming the new yarn to washcloths over the next week or so (as you can see, some of it has already taken shape) - keep an eye out for new listings! For now, check out the new colors:

photo-dreamer

I discovered Lissy Elle's Flickr Photostream via the Paper n Stitch blog today. Ms. Elle sounds adorable and fun, and her photographs are so dreamy and imaginative that I instantly fell in love with them. I need to take a trip to Canada to have a little photo adventure ...

I love her profile, which reads "
I live in Canada, where the moose are. I take pictures of anything that will stay still long enough. If you asked me if I would rather see one of the seven wonders or Las Vegas, I would always say Las Vegas. I admire Dr. Suess and Chuck Palahniuk more then you (sorry), and you bet your ass I would sooner tear out my own eyes then spell Panic! At The Disco without the exclamation point."

Check out my favorite images below.

summer brights treasury

I made a new treasury today, and I'm very happy with it. The colorful assortment in this collection is a departure from my usually subtle groupings. Please visit and leave a comment here.
