paper n stitch

I'm so excited to report that Brittni at Paper n Stitch has selected MBGdesigns to be a part of the next exhibit! Brittni started Paper n Stitch as a way to help other artists gain exposure for their work, and it has turned into a well known and successful community that works hand in hand with sites like Etsy. I have recently enjoyed reading Brittni's blog, and am thrilled to become a part of the exhibition site. Look for my work there starting August 30th!

new listings

Earlier this week I mentioned that I had made a thicker wool circle scarf and some aviator caps. I got around to photographing them late Wednesday afternoon, and added them to the shop over the next couple of days. I'm happy to report that these aviator caps are in stock and ready to ship, and that they were also used to update my listing for the "Choose your COLOR" option, where you can order them to be custom made in a color of your choice. The circle scarf is also in stock and ready to ship, and is available under a "Choose your COLOR" listing as well. The wisteria cap is probably the only one I'll ever make in that color, so act fast if you want it ...

blue beauties ... and other favorites

Just made a new treasury, featuring some gorgeous blues, other items from my favorites list, and a beautiful ceramic dish from Sarah Ann Ceramics. Check it out here!

Sarah Ann Ceramics: Treasuries. Are. Addicting.

Sarah Ann Ceramics: Treasuries. Are. Addicting.: "Yesterday I curated my very first treasury and knew right away that there would be many, many more to follow. Treasuries. Are. Addicting...."

I was just blown away by this kind mention on Sarah's blog. Check it out, and while you're at it stop by her amazing ceramics store. Her gorgeous nature-inspired designs are skillfully executed and absolutely to die for. Buy something from her ... you know you want to!

a pile of projects

It appears as though being unemployed makes me productive! So far this week I have created a thicker wool version of my cozy cowl/circle scarf, two aviator caps, and a set of washcloths (and it's only Wednesday.) Next on the list are fingerless mittens and whatever else strikes my fancy. The pile of projects that need their seams sewn and ends woven in grows ... I'm trying to use up my enormous stash, partly to lighten the load for my impending move, partly because it makes sense financially. Hopefully this knitting burst will help to prepare the store for the fall season.

knitting wish list

I've been drooling over some items at Knit Picks for a while now, so I thought I'd post them here for all to see. I'm in love with their Harmony Wood needles, organic cotton yarn, the delicious fall colors of their merino/silk blend, and the soft and thick "bare" wool yarn for hand dyeing. Check it all out and start drooling with me!

vintage silk blouses

I added these silk shirts that were my grandmother's back in the day to the vintage store this afternoon. I haven't added a single item to that shop since I opened it with the original four, so it was about time. Check them out below. And, for the record, shoulder pads might be a bit much on me ...

mbgdesigns facelift

The store got a facelift today. I added a few new items, as well as new images for old listings. I'm now photographing everything against the same wall in my dining room, using natural light. I'm shooting self-portrait style these days, because I hesitate to use another model until I can pay her for her time (and who am I kidding? I'd rather do it myself anyway!) It's still in transition - I need to reshoot more items, and I'm not 100% decided on the new style - but it looks more cohesive now than ever before. Check out some of the new images and items below.

100% cotton, hand-knit washcloths in enticing color combinations found their way into the shop today. These are the first of a (hopefully) large collection, all assembled into 3-pack bundles of coordinating colors. Check it!

the convertible dress

I added a new dress to the shop today. It's a four-way convertible dress that is tons of fun to play around with. I'm calling this one the prototype, because it's made from acrylic yarn rather than cotton, which is what I want to start taking custom orders for. This "sample" version is listed at $85, whereas the cotton version will be $115. Hopefully someone will appreciate that savings enough to buy it soon!
